Carbon Capture and Storage Technologies

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a technology that captures carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from sources like power plants and factories before they reach the atmosphere. The captured CO₂ is then compressed and transported, usually via pipelines, to underground storage sites such as depleted oil or gas fields or deep saline reservoirs. There, it is injected deep underground to prevent it from contributing to climate change. CCS aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while allowing continued use of fossil fuels during the transition to cleaner energy sources.
