CAR-T therapies

CAR-T therapies are advanced treatments that harness a patient’s own immune cells to fight cancer. Doctors extract T cells, a type of immune cell, and genetically modify them in a lab to better recognize and attack cancer cells. These engineered cells, called CAR-T cells, are then infused back into the patient’s bloodstream. Once inside, they seek out and destroy cancer cells, often leading to significant remission. CAR-T therapies are particularly effective for certain blood cancers, such as some types of leukemia and lymphoma, offering new hope where traditional treatments may have failed.
