Capsule Endoscopy
Capsule endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the small intestine, which is difficult to reach with traditional endoscopy. During the procedure, a patient swallows a small, pill-sized camera that takes thousands of images as it travels through the digestive system. These images are transmitted to a recorder worn by the patient, allowing doctors to view and assess the condition of the intestines for issues like bleeding, inflammation, or tumors. It’s a non-invasive option that does not require sedation and provides valuable information about the patient’s gastrointestinal health.
