CAPRIE trial

The CAPRIE trial was a large clinical study comparing the effectiveness of two blood-thinning medications, clopidogrel and aspirin, in reducing the risk of clot-related events like strokes, heart attacks, or leg ischemia. It focused on patients with atherosclerosis, a condition where arteries narrow due to plaque buildup. Results showed that clopidogrel was slightly better than aspirin in preventing these events, especially in patients with recent ischemic stroke or symptomatic peripheral arterial disease. The trial helped guide doctors in choosing more effective medications to prevent serious cardiovascular problems in at-risk patients.
