capillary fragility test

A capillary fragility test evaluates the strength and integrity of small blood vessels (capillaries) under pressure. In this test, a pinprick or small pressure is applied to the skin, often on the fingertips or earlobe, and the number of tiny red spots (petechiae) that appear within a few minutes is counted. An increased number indicates fragile capillaries, which may occur in certain medical conditions like vitamin deficiencies or blood disorders. The test helps assess capillary health and diagnose related conditions by observing how easily blood vessels break or leak under mild stress.
