Cape Wind Project

The Cape Wind Project was a proposed offshore wind farm off the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, designed to generate renewable energy by installing large wind turbines in the Atlantic Ocean. Its goal was to produce clean electricity to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The project aimed to provide substantial power for the region while respecting environmental and visual considerations. Despite support for clean energy, it faced opposition regarding concerns about environmental impact, views, and cost, leading to delays and eventual cancellation in 2017. The project exemplified challenges and potential of offshore wind development in the U.S.
