Cape Meares Lighthouse
Cape Meares Lighthouse is a historic navigational light located on the Oregon coast, near the town of Oceanside. Built in 1889, it guided ships safely around the dangerous Clatsop and Tillamook Head spectrums. The lighthouse stands approximately 38 feet tall, but the tower is positioned on a hill, making its light visible from 14 miles away. It features a Fresnel lens that efficiently projects its beam. Today, it’s a popular visitor attraction, offering insights into maritime history and spectacular views of the rugged coastline. The lighthouse is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service and is part of the Cape Meares National Wildlife Refuge.
