CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis)

Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) is a treatment for kidney failure that uses the lining of the abdomen (peritoneum) to filter waste and excess fluid from the blood. It involves inserting a sterile fluid into the abdomen through a catheter, allowing waste to pass into the fluid. After a few hours, the used fluid is drained out and replaced with fresh fluid. This process is done manually by the patient multiple times a day, providing ongoing kidney support without the need for machines or hospital stays. It offers flexibility and independence for individuals managing their dialysis.
