Capacity fading

Capacity fading refers to the gradual loss of a battery’s ability to hold and deliver its full charge over time. This occurs because, during repeated charge and discharge cycles, chemical reactions inside the battery cause physical and chemical changes, such as the growth of unstable structures or loss of active materials. These changes reduce the battery’s effective capacity, meaning it cannot power devices for as long as it initially could. Factors like temperature, usage patterns, and age influence how quickly capacity fades, ultimately limiting the battery's lifespan and performance.
