Canine Parvovirus
Canine Parvovirus (CPV) is a highly contagious virus that affects dogs, especially puppies and unvaccinated animals. It attacks rapidly dividing cells in the intestines, leading to severe diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration. In some cases, it can also harm the heart tissue in very young pups. The virus spreads through contaminated feces, environments, or infected dogs. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent infection. If a dog shows symptoms like extreme lethargy, loss of appetite, or bloody diarrhea, prompt veterinary care is essential. With early treatment, many dogs can recover, but the virus can be deadly if untreated.
