Canine Osteosarcoma
Canine osteosarcoma is an aggressive type of bone cancer commonly found in dogs, especially large breeds. It originates in the bone cells, often near the limbs. Symptoms include swelling, lameness, and pain. The tumor can quickly spread to other parts of the body, particularly the lungs. Diagnosis involves x-rays and biopsies. Treatment typically combines surgery to remove the tumor with chemotherapy to address cancer spread. Despite aggressive treatment, osteosarcoma is often challenging to cure fully, but prompt intervention can improve quality of life and extend survival time.
