Candida species

Candida species are a type of yeast, a microscopic fungus naturally found in the human body, especially on the skin, mouth, gut, and vaginal areas. They usually coexist peacefully with our body’s bacteria, but when the immune system is weakened or when balance is disturbed, Candida can grow excessively, leading to infections known as candidiasis. These infections can affect the mouth (thrush), skin, genital area, or internal organs. While generally manageable with medications, it's important to maintain good hygiene and health to prevent overgrowth. Candida plays a normal role in our body but can cause problems if it becomes unbalanced.
