Candida (Candidiasis)

Candida is a type of yeast that naturally lives in our bodies, especially in the mouth, gut, and on the skin. Candidiasis occurs when there’s an overgrowth of this yeast, leading to an infection. It can cause symptoms like white patches in the mouth, skin rashes, itching, or discomfort, depending on where it develops. Factors such as weakened immune systems, antibiotics, or diabetes can increase the risk. While often treatable with antifungal medications, preventing overgrowth involves good hygiene and managing underlying health conditions.
