Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG)
The Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) was a collaborative initiative developed by the National Cancer Institute to improve cancer research by connecting data, tools, and researchers. It aimed to create a secure, interoperable online network where scientists could share information, analyze data, and accelerate discoveries. By standardizing data and fostering collaboration, caBIG sought to enhance understanding of cancer and support the development of personalized treatments. Although the program officially ended in 2011, its goals of improved data sharing and collaboration continue to influence cancer research infrastructure.
