Canadian Expeditionary Force
The Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) was Canada's military contribution to World War I, formed in 1914 to support Allied efforts. It consisted of volunteer soldiers who trained and were eventually sent to fight primarily in Europe, notably on the Western Front. The CEF played a significant role in key battles such as Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele, helping to establish Canada's reputation as a capable and independent military power. After the war, the CEF was disbanded, and many of its members returned home, contributing to Canada's national identity and sense of emerging independence.
