Canada Bill of Rights

The Canada Bill of Rights, enacted in 1960, is an important law that guarantees fundamental freedoms and rights for Canadians, such as freedom of speech, religion, and equality before the law. It acts as a national standard to protect individual rights from government actions. However, it is primarily an ordinary law, not a constitutional document, meaning it can be amended or overridden by later legislation. While it was a significant step in recognizing human rights, some of its limitations led Canada to develop a more comprehensive Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982.
