Canaanite settlements
Canaanite settlements were ancient communities located in the region of the eastern Mediterranean known as Canaan, roughly corresponding to modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and parts of Jordan and Syria. These settlements ranged from small villages to large city-states, thriving around 3000-1200 BCE. They were characterized by trade, agriculture, and urban development, often engaging in commerce across the Mediterranean. The Canaanites developed distinctive art, religion, and writing systems, significantly influencing the cultures that later emerged in the region. Their archaeological remains include city ruins, pottery, and inscriptions, providing valuable insights into early urban civilization in the ancient Near East.
