Canaanite cities

Canaanite cities were ancient urban centers located in the region known as Canaan (roughly modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria) during the second millennium BCE. These city-states had their own governments, economy, and religious practices, often centered around city temples. They engaged in trade, agriculture, and warfare with neighboring regions. Notable Canaanite cities include Jericho, Hazor, and Ugarit. The Canaanites are significant historically as they influenced early Hebrew culture and are considered predecessors to later civilizations in the Levant. Their archaeological remains provide insight into ancient urban life, religion, and social organization in the ancient Near East.
