Can-making

Can-making is a manufacturing process that transforms sheets of metal, typically aluminum or steel, into the cylindrical containers we see as cans. The process involves several steps: first, a large sheet of metal is cut and shaped into a blank, then it’s formed into a can body through deep drawing and ironing, which thins the metal while shaping it. The can is then trimmed, necked, and necked-in to create openings. Finally, lids are added, and the cans are cleaned, filled, and sealed. This efficient process produces durable, lightweight containers ideal for packaging food and beverages.
