Camshaft

A camshaft is a component in an internal combustion engine that controls the timing and operation of the engine's valves. It is a rotating shaft with specially shaped lobes (cams) that push against other parts to open and close the intake and exhaust valves at precise moments during the engine's cycle. This process allows the engine to efficiently draw in fuel-air mixture and expel exhaust gases, ensuring optimal performance and power. The camshaft's rotation is synchronized with the crankshaft, typically via a timing belt or chain, coordinating valve movements with piston motion.
