Campagna degli Abbruzzi
Campagna degli Abbruzzi is a historical military campaign conducted during World War I in 1915-1916, involving Italy's efforts to expand its territory into the mountainous region of Abruzzo (known historically as Abbruzzi). The campaign aimed to secure strategic positions against Austro-Hungarian forces along the Italian front. It featured difficult mountain warfare, trenches, and challenging weather conditions. Although not as widely known as other WWI battles, it was significant for Italy’s early involvement in the war and its attempt to establish a presence in the central Italian Alps.
