Camp Hale
Camp Hale was a military training center established during World War II in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. It served as a base for training the 10th Mountain Division, an elite unit trained for mountain warfare, including skiing, mountaineering, and surviving in harsh winter conditions. The camp allowed soldiers to prepare for combat in challenging alpine environments, such as those they faced in Italy. After the war, Camp Hale was closed, and the area is now protected as part of Colorado’s White River National Forest, offering historical insight into wartime training and mountain combat readiness.
