Camp Bastion

Camp Bastion was a large military base established by the United Kingdom in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, during the Afghanistan conflict. It served as a central hub for British and coalition forces involved in operations aimed at stabilizing the region. The base included living quarters, command centers, medical facilities, and airstrips, facilitating military planning, logistics, and combat support. Known for its strategic importance, Camp Bastion was also a target for attacks, notably in 2012 when insurgents launched a significant assault. It played a key role in international efforts to counter insurgency and assist in rebuilding Afghanistan until its closure in 2014.
