Cambodian Law

Cambodian law is based on a mix of civil law principles, customary practices, and religion, primarily Buddhism. It governs areas such as civil rights, criminal justice, business, and property, ensuring social order and justice. The legal system includes the Constitutional Law, the Civil Code, Criminal Code, and various specialized laws. Laws are made by the National Assembly and approved by the King. The judiciary, led by courts, interprets and enforces these laws. While progress has been made, there are ongoing efforts to improve legal transparency, independence, and access to justice for all citizens.
