Calles-Cárdenas conflict
The Calles-Cárdenas conflict was a political struggle in Mexico during the 1920s and early 1930s. It centered on the tension between Plutarco Elías Calles, who was powerful as the government leader, and Lázaro Cárdenas, a rising military leader and politician. Calles aimed to strengthen central authority, while Cárdenas pushed for land reforms and more influence for the working class and peasants. Their conflict led to political instability, shifts in government power, and eventually Cárdenas becoming president in 1934, implementing many reforms that shaped modern Mexico.
