Call spoofing

Call spoofing is when someone disguises or falsifies their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from a different, often familiar, phone number. This is often used to trick or scam people into answering the call, thinking it's someone they know or trust. Spoofing can be used maliciously or for prank calls, and it undermines trust in phone communications because the displayed number no longer reflects who is actually calling.
