California Paid Family Leave Program
California's Paid Family Leave (PFL) program provides employees with partial wage replacement when they take time off to care for a new child, a family member with a serious health condition, or to bond with a foster or adopted child. Funded through payroll taxes, it offers up to eight weeks of benefits within a 12-month period. PFL does not provide job protection but can be coordinated with job-protected leave like California Family Rights Act (CFRA). It aims to support employees in balancing work and family responsibilities without significant financial hardship.
