California Coastal Ranges
The California Coastal Ranges are a series of mountain ridges that run parallel to the Pacific Ocean along California's coast. Stretching approximately 450 miles from Oregon to California’s central coast, they form a natural barrier between the coast and the Central Valley. These ranges are characterized by rugged terrain, diverse ecosystems, and are home to many forests, wildlife, and scenic landscapes. They influence local climate, precipitate rainfall, and provide recreational and natural resources. Geologically, they are part of the larger Pacific Coast Ranges and play a significant role in California’s geography and environmental diversity.
