Calcium reactor
A calcium reactor is a device used in saltwater aquariums to maintain stable calcium and alkalinity levels essential for healthy coral growth. It works by dissolving calcium carbonate media with a controlled flow of carbon dioxide (CO₂), producing carbonic acid that gradually dissolves the media. The dissolved calcium then dissolves into the aquarium water, replenishing calcium and buffering pH, which are vital for coral skeleton building. This automated system helps keep water chemistry stable, reducing the need for manual supplementation and supporting a thriving reef environment.
