Cahokian System

The Cahokian System refers to the complex social, political, and religious organization of the ancient Cahokia culture, centered around Cahokia Mound Site in present-day Illinois (circa 1050–1350 CE). It was a highly organized society with a chiefdom leadership, large-scale earthworks, and a network of nearby settlements. Religious rituals, social stratification, and resource management played key roles in maintaining stability and influence. The system exemplifies how early North American societies built sophisticated urban centers with hierarchical structures, reflecting their spiritual beliefs and social coordination on a grand scale.
