Cadenzas
A cadenza is a specially elaborate, often virtuosic section within a concerto or solo piece, typically near the end of a movement. It provides the soloist an opportunity to display skill, creativity, and technical prowess, often featuring swift runs, improvisation, or expressive variation. Historically, cadenzas were improvised, but modern performances usually include pre-composed cadenzas by the composer or tailored by the performer. They serve as a dramatic highlight, showcasing the performer's artistry and providing a moment of personal expression within the larger structural framework of the piece.
