Caddo Mounds
Caddo Mounds, located in East Texas, are ancient archaeological sites built by the Caddo people around 800 to 1500 CE. They consist of constructed earthen mounds used for religious ceremonies, social gatherings, and leadership functions. The site includes several large mounds and a plaza, giving insights into the complex society and culture of the Caddo. Today, Caddo Mounds State Historic Site preserves these structures and offers visitors a chance to learn about the region’s Native American history through exhibits, trails, and educational programs.
