Cadaveric organ retrieval process

Cadaveric organ retrieval is a medical process where organs are carefully removed from a deceased donor to be transplanted into patients in need. After a person is declared brain dead or has no brain activity, a team of specialists assesses their suitability. Once consent is obtained, surgery is performed in a sterile environment—similar to any major operation—to carefully extract organs like the heart, kidneys, liver, or lungs. These organs are then preserved and transported promptly to transplant centers for transplantation into recipients, with the goal of saving or significantly improving their lives.
