Cache poisoning

Cache poisoning is a cybersecurity attack where a malicious actor manipulates a website or internet service’s cache—its temporary storage of data—to serve false or harmful information to users. Attackers exploit vulnerabilities to insert fake data, such as incorrect website pages or security certificates, which then get delivered to visitors. This can lead to users being directed to malicious sites, stealing sensitive information, or trusting fake content. Essentially, it tricks the system into storing and providing counterfeit data, undermining reliability and security of online services.
