CAATSA
CAATSA, or the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, is a U.S. law enacted in 2017 that aims to discourage countries like Russia, Iran, and North Korea from engaging in harmful activities. It authorizes the U.S. government to impose sanctions—such as restricting financial or business dealings—on those nations or entities that threaten U.S. security, foreign policy, or economic interests. Essentially, CAATSA uses economic measures to influence behavior and promote stability, punishing actions like cyberattacks, military aggression, or nuclear proliferation.
