Ca trù
Ca trù is a traditional Vietnamese musical art form that combines singing, poetry, and ritual to celebrate history, literature, and spirituality. Performed by female vocalists called "đào" who sing poetic lyrics accompanied by a three-string zither called a đàn đáy and percussion instruments. Originating over a thousand years ago, it was historically performed in temple courtyards and royal courts, often featuring elaborate costumes and poetic dialogue. Today, ca trù is recognized as an important cultural heritage, preserving Vietnam’s artistic expressions and historical identity through its intricate melodies, lyrical storytelling, and poetic eloquence.
