C40 (Cretaceous Period)
The Cretaceous Period, part of the late Mesozoic Era lasting from about 145 to 66 million years ago, was a time when the Earth’s continents continued to drift apart, creating many of today's oceans and landmasses. It saw the dominance of dinosaurs, the rise of flowering plants, and diverse marine life like ammonites and marine reptiles. Climate was generally warm and stable, supporting lush ecosystems. The period ended with a mass extinction event, likely caused by a massive asteroid impact, which led to the extinction of the dinosaurs and many other species, paving the way for mammalian dominance.
