C. parva
C. parva, or Candidatus Liberibacter parva, is a bacterium responsible for "Huanglongbing" (HLB), also called citrus greening disease. It infects citrus trees, causing leaves to yellow, fruit to deform, and overall decline in tree health, ultimately leading to death. The bacterium is transmitted by certain pest insects like the Asian citrus psyllid. C. parva is difficult to detect early and has no known cure, making it a major threat to citrus industries worldwide. Managing the spread involves controlling the insect vectors, removing infected trees, and implementing strict biosecurity measures.
