Burma Socialist Programme Party
The Burma Socialist Programme Party (BSPP) was the ruling political party in Myanmar from 1962 to 1988, established after a military coup led by General Ne Win. It promoted a form of socialism and nationalization, aiming to centralize control over the economy and reduce foreign influence. The party's governance was characterized by authoritarian rule, limited political freedoms, and isolationist policies. It sought to create a unified national identity based on socialist principles, but its rule eventually faced widespread dissatisfaction, contributing to economic decline and the transition to a different political system in 1988.
