Burlington Route
The Burlington Route, officially known as the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad, was a major American railroad company that operated primarily in the Midwest and Plains. Founded in 1870, it facilitated the efficient movement of freight and passengers across a large region, playing a key role in economic development. Known for its iconic streamlined passenger trains like the Zephyr, it contributed to the growth of commerce and travel. The Burlington Route was eventually merged into the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1970, continuing its legacy within the larger freight rail system.
