Burke and Wills
Burke and Wills were explorers in the 1860s who led the first expedition across Australia from south to north, aiming to map uncharted territory and find an inland route. Funded by a Victorian government effort, their journey faced extreme hardships like harsh climate, scarce water, and challenging terrain. Despite remarkable navigation skills and gathering valuable scientific data, the expedition ended tragically: both leaders died from exhaustion and dehydration, and many members suffered similar fates. Their expedition is remembered for both its pioneering spirit and the severe challenges of exploring Australia's interior.
