Burial shroud (Tachrichim)
Burial shrouds, called Tachrichim in Hebrew, are simple garments used to wrap and bury the deceased in Jewish tradition. They are usually plain, white linen garments symbolizing purity and equality in death, regardless of wealth or social status. The shroud typically consists of a shirt, pants or a body wrap, and a head covering, all sewn in a respectful and modest manner. The use of Tachrichim reflects the belief in humility, the sanctity of the body, and the hope for spiritual cleansing and peaceful rest in the afterlife.
