Bunong
The Bunong are an Indigenous ethnic group from northeastern Cambodia, primarily residing in the Mondulkiri Province. They have their own language, also called Bunong, which belongs to the Austroasiatic language family. Traditionally, they are hunter-gatherers and forest farmers, relying on the land for their livelihood. The Bunong culture emphasizes respect for nature, with spiritual beliefs rooted in forest spirits and ancestral worship. Over time, they have adapted to modern influences while striving to preserve their language, customs, and connection to the forest environment, making them a vital part of Cambodia’s cultural diversity.
