Bulge, Battle of
The Battle of the Bulge was a major World War II conflict in December 1944, when German forces launched a surprise, large-scale attack through dense Ardennes Forest in Belgium and Luxembourg. Germany aimed to split Allied lines and capture the key Belgian port of Antwerp. The surprise and tough winter conditions created a "bulge" in the frontlines, hence the name. The Allies ultimately resisted and pushed back the Germans, marking the last significant German offensive on the Western Front and hastening Germany's eventual defeat.
