Bulgarian People's Army
The Bulgarian People's Army was the military force of Bulgaria during the Cold War era, from 1946 to 1990. It was established as a socialist state’s armed forces aligned with the Soviet Union, primarily tasked with national defense and supporting communist objectives. The army included army, navy, and air force components, modernized with Soviet equipment and trained under Soviet guidance. After the fall of communism, it was restructured and renamed the Bulgarian Armed Forces. The Bulgarian People's Army played a key role in regional security and was a symbol of Bulgaria’s socialist regime during its existence.
