Bukhara Jews
Bukhara Jews are a historic Jewish community from Bukhara, an ancient city in Central Asia, now part of Uzbekistan. They have roots dating back over a thousand years, preserving unique customs, language (Judeo-Tajik), and religious traditions adapted to Central Asian culture. Historically, they thrived along trade routes like the Silk Road, maintaining their faith while integrating local influences. Although their numbers declined after Soviet rule and the Israeli establishment, some descendants still live in Central Asia or have migrated elsewhere, carrying a rich cultural heritage that reflects a blend of Jewish and Central Asian identities.
