Buerger (Paul)
Paul Buerger was a German-American ophthalmologist best known for describing a condition now called Buerger's disease (thromboangiitis obliterans). This rare disorder involves inflammation and clotting in small and medium-sized arteries and veins, primarily in the limbs, leading to pain, ulcers, and potential tissue death. It most often affects young male smokers and is strongly linked to tobacco use. The disease can cause serious circulation problems, but quitting smoking and proper medical care can help manage symptoms and prevent progression.
