Bubble Memories
Bubble memories are a type of non-volatile storage technology that uses tiny magnetic spheres, or "bubbles," to represent data. Each bubble can be magnetized in different directions to encode information, and they are contained within a thin film. These bubbles can be moved, created, or erased using magnetic fields, allowing data to be stored and accessed without power. Bubble memory was used in the 1970s and 1980s as an alternative to magnetic tapes and disks, offering advantages like durability and fast access times, though it eventually was replaced by other storage technologies.
