Brostrom Procedure
The Broström procedure is a surgical technique used to repair torn or loosened ligaments on the outer side of the ankle, known as the lateral ligaments. These ligaments help stabilize the ankle and prevent it from turning outward excessively. During the surgery, the surgeon tightens or reattaches these ligaments to restore stability, often using sutures or small anchors. This procedure is commonly performed to treat chronic ankle instability caused by repeated sprains, helping improve function, reduce the risk of future sprains, and allow patients to return to normal activities.
