Brody myopathy

Brody myopathy is a rare genetic disorder affecting muscle function, specifically impacting how muscles contract and relax after activity. It causes muscle stiffness and weakness, especially during and after exercise, because the muscles have difficulty returning to their resting state. This occurs due to a defect in a protein responsible for managing calcium within muscle cells, which is essential for proper muscle relaxation. While it can cause discomfort and limit physical activity, it does not typically affect long-term health. Management may include activity modification and muscle stretching to reduce symptoms.
